Independent Study math class will use an intermediate algebra textbook to review and reinforce algebra 2 and precalculus concepts to have a strong foundation for college level math courses. Students will also explore topics of personal finance and statistics. For a student to succeed in this class, he/she must be in class, take notes, participate in class activities and most importantly complete all assignments.

Check grades:
Parents and students can access student grades using the Family Skyward Access. Information regarding Family Skyward and user ID/password can be obtained from the Counselor’s office.

Absences:

  • For every day absent, you have one day to complete your make-up work.
  • Assignments will be in your google classroom student account, Remind textmessage and/or class blog. Complete and turn in within the allotted time.
  • Get notes from a friend or use teacher notes (before school or posted in googleclassroom)
  • If you miss a quiz/test, it is your responsibility to schedule a day to take thequiz/test as soon as you return.
  • If you are absent on review day, you will take the test as scheduled. Reviewmaterial will be posted in your google classroom student account.

    Assignments:

In order to grasp concepts and apply to future learning, students need to practice skills and concepts. Practice will be given as needed utilizing worksheets and online textbook. Practice is due the next day when students will check their answers. Students will receive a completion grade based on the weekly practice work completed. Students will take a quiz based on the weeks practice. The quiz will count twice. Students will be allowed to replace a failing completion grade or quiz by attending tutorials (minimum of twice) the following week and completing an additional worksheet during tutorials.

Grading:

Average is determined by:

  • 40% Homework/Quizzes
  • 60% Tests/ProjectsYOU MUST SHOW YOUR WORK. NO WORK = NO CREDIT

Any type of cheating on daily work or tests will result in a zero.
Talking or disruption during the test period may result in a zero and/or additional consequences.

    Nine Week Test:

At the end of each grading period, a cumulative test will be given to students who fail at least one test or requested by a student who passed all tests but would like to improve their average. The test grade will be used to replace the lowest test grade in the corresponding grading period. If the cumulative test is the lowest test grade, it will not replace any test grade.
